In October1947,when the report of the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine was considered by the Ad Hoc committee on Palestine of the United Nations General Assembly,the Jewish position was set forth by representatives of the Jewish Agency for Palestine . Statements were made by Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, head of the American Section of the Jewish Agency for Palestine , on October 2. by Moshe Shertok, head of the Pplitical Department of the Jewish Agency, on October 17 . and by Dr. Chaim Weizmann , former president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, on October 18 , 1947 . the text of Moshe Shertok statement follows
