A Compact Biography
Menachem Z. Rosensaft

Menachem Z. Rosensaft first met Moshe Sharett when he was eight years old, on a visit to Israel in 1956 with his parents Josef Rosensaft, Chairman of the World Federation of Bergen-Belsen Survivors, and Dr. Hadassah Bimko Rosensaft (an event briefly described in the Personal Diary entry for 28 April 1956).  They met several more times, in New York and Jerusalem.

After Sharett's death in 1965, sixteen-year-old Menachem Rosensaft composed his compact biography of Sharett, Moshe Sharett - Statesman of Israel, as "my own humble tribute to the life, the work, and the heritage of the statesman and leader."

Not to be compared to Gabriel Sheffer's monumental Moshe Sharett: Biography of a Political Moderate (Clarendon Press, 1996), Rosensaft's short book, portraying Sharett in the impressionable eyes of a young man, gives the reader a different and personal view of Moshe Sharett.
